Yury is multidisciplinary performer in film, theatre, and circus.

Originally from Moscow, Russia and now living in Toronto.

He studied theatre and acting at Boris Shukin Theatre School,

affiliated with Vakhtangov Theatre (2008), performance arts

at The Green Theatre in Moscow (2005) and holds MBA from Moscow University (2001). Yury is very proud to have studied with John Turner (Canada), Philippe Gaulier (France), Sonia Norris, Adam Lazarus, Helen Donelli, Allan Turner, Dean Gilmour, Peggy Baker, Ross Manson (Canada)

Yury’s one-man impersonations show - Viva Cabaret - tribute to the greatest divas has been entertaining audiences on three continents for 15 years. Featuring over 75 grotesque parodies of the most popular stars of screen and stage.

Yury has been hosting shows, festival, weddings, and cabarets all around the world for the last 20 years. (Toronto Circus Festival, Pan Am Games at the Harbourfront, Canada Day at Square One... to name a few) and performed in various cabarets all around the world, including Moscow, Paris, Berlin, and New York. Ruzhyev has graduated from the Second City Stand Up course in 2017.

Circus credits: Yo-luna circus show (acrobat, dancer, director, producer), Circus Sessions at the Harbourfront (clown), Toronto Circus Festival (acrobat, clown and host), Les Clowns Cabaret in Montreal (clown), No Elephant Show (clown, creator, producer).

In 2014 Yury created and produced “Komunka” - a play about civil rights in Russia. In the summer 2015 Yury created and directed a theatre project - “In The Dark”, exploration of personal taboos and sexual liberties. In 2016 Yury debuted with a solo clown project "No Elephant Show” at Montreal, Milan , and Toronto Clown Festivals. In the period of 2014-2017 he co-produced and performed  in “In Sundry Languages" a multilingual play with all immigrant actors speaking their first languages.

S O N I A   N O R R I S

Truly unique and fearless clown and theatre master, teacher and director - Sonia Norris, who gives this production a powerful voice, opens up endless possibilities for interpretation and ignite the magic of live theatre and circus. Sonia works internationally as a director, creator, performer, and teacher in theatre, circus, clown, mask, and puppetry. Recent projects have taken her to South Africa (Olifantland, and Renosterbos, Handspring Puppet Company), Nunavik (Three Girls, Cirqiniq/Cirque du Soleil), Banff Centre (Transformations, Indigenous Dance Program), and England (Warhorse, National Theatre). This spring, Sonia directed In a Nutshell for Vancouver’s female clown company The Assembly and currently she is directing/co-creating clown shows Mal with Rachelle Ellie and Scraps with Yury Ruzhyev

A N D R E I   M A Z U R U C 

Production manager with more than a decade of experience in Canada and US Andrei Mazuruc is no stranger to Toronto’s arts scene. He has worked on productions in all of the city’s major venues and managed Canadian tours of such acclaimed international companies like Eifman Ballet, Las Minas Puerto Flamenko Tour, Moscow’s Vakhtangov Theatre, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo among others. From classical theatre and ballet to rock and pop concerts, from local aspiring artists to world superstars Andrei has been there ensuring professionalism and success of every performance.
